The Tulsa Area United Way is feeling cautious but confident as it kicks off its 2003 fundraising campaign.
Just like last year, the United Way will host the Sandblazer tournament as a way to reach its nearly $23-million goal. Last year's goal was $25-million. They reached it. But this year they had to consider the weak economy.
United Way president and CEO, Kathleen Coan, "We had to take a serious look at the economy and where we are right now and the decision was to go for the $22,978,000 goal."
This year's theme is "Your Gift Matters". And they say with agencies facing other funding cuts, the money really does matter.
