(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A bill headed to Governor Brad Henry's desk would move up the date of Oklahoma's presidential primary.
The bill by Oklahoma City Senator Keith Leftwich moves the date of Oklahoma's presidential primary to the first Tuesday in February.
The state's last presidential primary was March 13th of 2000.
Leftwich says holding the primary earlier will attract more presidential candidates to the state.
The bill was approved by the Senate Monday.
It allows the state Election Board to change the primary date if an adjoining state establishes a regional primary election.
