Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune hasn't set out the next fiscal year's budget yet. But already some city programs are in a financial limbo.
City recreation centers are used for everything from senior activities to summer day camps for kids. Normally by now, most summer programs are already full with waiting lists. This year, workers are telling people they don't know if there will be programs at all.
Kim MacLoud with the city of Tulsa, “Right now we're asking people to check back in May when we can tell them more about what the parks department will be able to provide."
The recreational programs are mostly self-supporting, but a hiring freeze could prevent the city from hiring people to run them. For now, everyone is just waiting for the budget, which is due May 1st.
