NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Two University of Oklahoma students have been named Goldwater scholars in connection with the national competition for such scholastic awards.
The competition is conducted by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program.
Collin Martin of Tulsa and Daniel Stark of Edmond, both honors students at OU, have been named 2003 Goldwater scholars.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of potential and intent to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.
This year, 1,093 college sophomores and juniors across the country competed for the 300 scholarships. The one- and two-year scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
