Bail set for man being held as material witness in Tulsa triple homicide

(Tulsa-AP) -- A man being held as a material witness in a triple homicide has been arraigned in Sequoyah County District Court.

James Kidwell's bail was set at $300,000 Wednesday.

Kidwell has been in a Sallisaw jail since February 26th when a judge approved a detention order.

Police are awaiting the results of a DNA test on samples taken from Kidwell. Authorities declined to say what they are comparing the samples to.

Fred and Rebecca Barney were shot early February 22nd in their home. The killer then set fire to the house.

Fred Barney died at the scene and Rebecca Barney died at a Tulsa hospital the next day.

Kenneth Maxwell was shot outside the house after calling 911 to report the fire. Maxwell died on the way to the hospital.

Kidwell has told police he was with the Barneys the night of the killing.
