(Oklahoma City-AP) -- President Bush has declared a major disaster in 14 Oklahoma counties hit by a severe ice storm in December.
Bush ordered that federal aid be made available to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by the storm December third and fourth.
Damage stretched from Beckham County into northeastern Oklahoma. The state's electrical distribution system was affected, causing power outages.
The aid will be distributed on a cost-sharing basis for the repair or replacement of damaged public facilities. Funding also is available on a cost-share basis for hazard mitigation measures.
The counties included in the declaration are Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Custer, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Logan, Noble, Osage, Pawnee, Payne, Roger Mills and Washita.
