(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma Highway Patrol says they have no reports of debris from the space shuttle Columbia in Oklahoma.

Police in Durant say they received calls about debris, but those reports have not been confirmed.

Residents of north Texas say they heard ``a big bang'' today about the time the space shuttle Columbia disappeared on its way to a landing at Cape Canaveral.

NASA declared an emergency after losing communication with Columbia as the ship soared across Texas at an altitude of about 200-thousand feet, while traveling at six times the speed of sound.

The space agency says search and rescue teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth area were alerted.
