(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The state Water Resources Board is holding a public hearing today on the health of eastern Oklahoma lakes, rivers and streams.
The hearing is to discuss proposed state water quality rules.
Last year, a limit adopted on phosphorus in the Illinois River and the five other state scenic rivers sparked a debate between environmentalists and agriculture, industry and cities.
The hottest issue this year could be wetlands.
Farmers fear wetlands could include ponds and low areas holding water that may require costly protection.
