OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Tulsa businessman Jon Stuart and Oklahoma City banker-attorney V. Burns Hargis were appointed Thursday to boards of regents that govern the state's two comprehensive universities.
Gov. Frank Keating named Stuart to the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents to serve a term ending March 21, 2009. Stuart succeeds Robin Siegfried.
Hargis was appointed to the Board of Regents for Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges, which oversees Oklahoma State University and several other schools.
Hargis will serve until April 4, 2010. He succeeds John Polkinghorne.
Senate confirmation is required for both positions.
Keating also appointed Dorothy Logan of Vinita and Sue Buck of Hugo to the Board of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
