A refinery explosion in Texas could impact the timing of the Conoco-Phillips merger.

Phillips contracted with a Texas plant in August to produce 100,000 barrels of oil a day. A series of explosions created a fire in the liquid gas unit Friday night. Firefighters finally got the fire under control Saturday morning. The company's vice president says the explosions happened after a pump came loose, spraying gas and igniting the flames.

The damage will slow the production of oil, but it's too soon to know how that delay could affect the time schedule of the Conoco-Phillips merger.
