This Thanksgiving will be one to remember for a family, which spent the holiday in their own home for the first time.
The Griffin family was busy Thursday preparing the meal, because they now have room for company. Jimmy and Regina Griffin - and their three children - had always lived in apartments, but this summer moved into a home in the 3800 block of West 55th Place, built by Habitat for Humanity. Regina Griffin, "Before then we were staying in an apartment, it was crowded so we went over to our parents and ate and brought food home, it was pretty much crowded so we never really invited anybody over to the apartment."
Their home was dedicated back in July, after being built with volunteer labor and mostly donated materials. The Griffins helped build the house, and will pay for it with a 30 year "no interest" mortgage.
