(Orlando, Florida-AP) -- Baron Davis had 27 points and 10 assists in leading Charlotte to a 97-94 preseason victory over the Orlando Magic.

Lee Nailon and David Wesley each added 18 points for the Hornets.

Orlando was led by Grant Hill's 26 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Miller had 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Magic missed their first eight shots and the Hornets seized a nine-point advantage barely seven minutes into the contest.

Charlotte eventually stretched its lead to 15 points midway through the third quarter.

Orlando did close the gap down the stretch, as Pat Garrity's three-pointer made it 82-80. But following a turnover on possession that could've given the Magic the lead, Davis responded in kind for a five-point lead.
