OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Federal tax rebates won't count as income for state tax purposes under a bill signed into law Monday by Gov. Frank Keating.
``This guarantees that taxpayers will be able to keep every cent of their $300 and $600 checks,'' Keating said.
The measure was passed at a special session last week. The session is in recess, but may resume later this week.
Keating signed two additional bills.
One protects earnings from a college savings program from state taxation.
The other allows the Department of Public Safety to issue fake drivers' licenses to agencies involved in covert intelligence gathering.
``This is another tool available to those on the front lines of the war on terrorism,'' Keating said.
