Toy guns are causing real dangers right here in Tulsa. And police say the toys could end up getting someone killed.
Earlier this month Tulsa police confiscated a B-B gun that looked like a nine millimeter weapon. Officers fired at the robbery suspect who had it. To the officers, it looked like a semi-automatic pistol.
Last weekend Owasso police arrested a 16 year-old boy who was carrying a pellet gun. They say it looked like a Colt 45.
Sgt Wayne Allen, Tulsa Police:"For parents who purchase these type B-B guns for their children, I think they need to be under very close supervision when you're playing with these guns; they do look very much like a real firearm. Police often mistake them for a real firearm."
Police are warning parents to take the toy guns as seriously as they would a real gun.
