As students around the state get back into the swing of things. Some local kids got quite a surprise this second day of school.
EMSA and Braum's Ice Cream Stores delivered backpacks and book bags to students at Tulsa's Cherokee Elementary School Thursday. They were collected during the "Ice Cream for Book Bags" drive. Customers donated new or gently used book bags to area Braum's stores in exchange for a free ice cream cone. This is the first year for the program. Scott Phillps with Braum's, "We're able to provide these kids with hundreds of backpacks...to where they may not have had backpacks otherwise." EMSA Director of Operations, Aaron Howell, "It's really fun to be able to get out and meet the kids and provide a book bag for them."
The kids got to enjoy free ice cream while they picked out their backpacks.
