JENKS, Okla. (AP) _ Investigators believe a man found on U.S. 75 on Monday was dumped from a vehicle after being shot three times, authorities said.

Ramondo Cortez Fisher was alive when he was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the facility around 2:45 p.m., Tulsa Police Sgt. Wayne Allen said.

Motorists called 911 about 1 p.m. after seeing Fisher, 30, lying in the southbound lane of U.S. 75 near the Creek Turnpike, Jenks Police Chief Don Lewis said.

``It is my understanding that he was waving one arm trying to wave somebody down,'' Lewis said.

Officials didn't know initially how Fisher had been injured, but an emergency technician who transported him to the hospital saw what appeared to be multiple bullet holes in the man's body, Lewis said.

Investigators determined that Fisher was shot three times ``at fairly close range,'' Allen said. An autopsy will determine his exact cause of death.

``We believe Mr. Fisher was likely shot elsewhere and dumped from a vehicle at the location where he was found,'' Allen said.
