(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Officials with Oklahoma City-based Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Stores say they miscalculated and are running short on milk.
Braum's president Drew Braum says the company waited too long to increase its cow herd in preparation for lower milk production in the summer.
Company marketing director Terry Holden says Braum's has about ten-thousand cows producing milk, but needs about eleven thousand. He says there is no overall shortage of cows, but management miscalculated customer demand for milk this summer.
Holden says more cows are being bought and a large number of calves will be producing milk in a few weeks.
Braum's has 279 stores in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
