(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma Gas and Electric says a proposed rate cut of more than 42 million dollars would hurt the company's service.
OG&E says in a filing with the state Corporation Commission that such a cut would cripple the ability to respond to power outages, compromise reliability and could lead to a downgrade of the company's credit rating.
Corporation Commission staff is recommending the 43.2 million dollar rate cut that would mean a reduction of about 20 dollars per year in a customer's bill.
OG&E, meanwhile, is asking for a more than 26 million dollar rate increase to make improvements and recover from damage caused by the January ice storm.
