Friendship saved the life of a Broken Arrow firefighter. And Monday he got a chance to thank the men who pulled him from death’s door.
Broken Arrow Assistant Fire Chief of Training, Jay Gourd was visiting his friend Captain Guy Singer at Station Number 3 last Monday when Gourd started feeling sick.
When Gourd couldn't get comfortable, Captain Singer had the station's paramedics check him out. They discovered Gourd was having a heart attack, and within minutes he was on his way to the hospital. Gourd says it was a strange case of role reversals. "For 29 year I've been looking toward the patient and then the next thing I know, I 'm looking toward them. So that was a different feeling."
Gourd says his heart attack was serious, but he's doing fine now.
