(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Polls in the First Congressional District are testing how well Oklahoma first lady Cathy Keating would do in a race for the U-S House of Representatives.

A spokesman for Governor Keating says Cathy Keating is flattered that she's being mentioned, but says she is a ``long shot'' to be a candidate.

The governor said on a Tulsa radio talk show earlier this week he knows of no plans by his wife to run for Congress.

Cathy Keating is out of town and was unavailable for comment this morning.

Current U-S Representative Steve Largent is considering resigning early if he runs for governor, meaning a special election would be needed to fill the post.

A spokesman for the political consulting firm of Cole-Hargrave-Snodgrass declines to discuss any polls, but says he ``wouldn't be surprised'' if the firm is involved.

The firm is headed by a former top aide to Governor Keating and a member of the firm is a confidant of Cathy Keating.
