(Dubai, United Arab Emirates-AP) -- A newspaper in the United Arab Emirates is reporting that the wife of a former Oklahoma State University professor has been convicted in the man's death.

There is no immediate confirmation of the report from the U-S Embassy.

The Dubai Court of First Instance charged Julie Jackman yesterday with premeditated murder for the death of James Jackman.

The newspaper reports today that Julie Jackman was convicted on a lesser charge of intentional assault leading to death and faces up to seven years in prison.

James Jackman was attacked and stabbed at his apartment in September and died of massive bleeding.

Jackman was an associate professor at Oklahoma State. He moved to Dubai in 1999 and became an associate dean of the College of Business Sciences at Zayed University.
