NEW YORK (AP) — Infielder-outfielder Mark Johnson and right-handed pitchers Pete Walker and Paul Wagner have been invited by the New York Mets to their spring training camp at Port St. Lucie, Fla.
All three non-roster players have major league experience.
Johnson hit .182 with one home run and six RBIs in 21 games for the Mets last year. Walker, the Mets' seventh pick in the 1990 draft, was 1-0 with a 4.58 ERA in 13 games with New York in 1995. He also has pitched for San Diego and Boston.
Wagner, who missed all last season after right shoulder surgery, has a 29-45 major league record with three saves and a 4.83 ERA in 160 major league games with Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Cleveland.
The Mets also said their entire front office staff would return next season.
Omar Minaya is back as senior assistant general manager/international scouting director; Jim Duquette is promoted from assistant GM/player personnel to senior assistant GM; Gary LaRocque returns as assistant GM/amateur scouting director; Carmen Fusco is assistant GM/professional scouting director; and Kevin Morgan, formerly assistant director player of player personnel will be director of minor league operations.
