PITTSBURGH (CP) _ Mario Lemieux is expected to announce next week that he's planning a comeback as a player within 30 days, USA Today reports.

Under NHL bylaws, Lemieux, 35, must resign his position as the Penguins' governor and he would not be able to vote on league issues. He will continue to be involved in the team's day-to-day business operations.

Penguins spokesperson Tom McMillan declined to comment but said the team is ``planning a major announcement soon.''
