(Boca Raton, Florida-AP) -- Former Oklahoma Sooners running back Billy Sims is selling his 1978 Heisman Trophy in a December seventh telephone auction.
Sims, who's from Hooks, Texas, in 1978 led the nation with one-thousand 762 yards rushing.
Bidding will start at ten-thousand dollars in the auction conducted by Sports World of Boca Raton, Florida. The company sells sports memorabilia.
Company president Scott Goodman declined to speculate on the sale price for Sims' Heisman.
But Goodman says another item in the auction will likely bring more money _ a 1962 baseball glove used by Mickey Mantle being sold by his former teammate, Tom Tresh.
Mantle died in 1995 in Dallas of liver cancer.
