(Providence-AP) -- Providence basketball coaches found a sympathetic ear in complaining the school's gym floor is too old and causing injuries.
The college will replace the 45-year-old wood practice floor at Alumni Hall, but not until next year. That has the coaches of the men's and women's teams searching for a place to hold practices beginning October 15th.
School officials say tests done last year did not turn up problems with the floor but it will be replaced anyway. The school has yet to budget the money.
The school might put a portable floor in if it can find one, The Providence Journal reports.
The Friars' annual Midnight Madness workout could be canceled this year.
Tim Welsh says numerous players have suffered leg and foot problems in his two seasons as men's coach.
