Sooners try to prepare for Rice's wishbones

(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma's co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables says he'd rather not play a team like Rice.

Co-defensive coordinator Mike Stoops says the type of wishbone played by Rice forces the Owls' opponents to play very disciplined football.

O-U last faced a wishbone team in the 1999 season opener. The Sooners won that game -- against Indiana State -- 49-to-zero.

O-U coaches have been reviewing old game film to ready their players for the repetitive nature of the Owls' wishbone.
