(Los Angeles-AP) -- Laura Boyd is getting about as close as she can to announcing another run for statewide office without officially taking the plunge.

Boyd was in Los Angeles today for the Democratic national Convention. She says she's 98 percent sure that she's going to run. Boyd ran for governor in 1998 and lost to Republican incumbent Frank Keating. Now, Boyd says she's leaning toward a bid for lieutenant governor in 2002. But she doesn't rule out another campaign for governor.

Keating can't seek a third consecutive term, meaning the governor's race will be wide open. Boyd is a former three-term state legislator from Norman. She says she'll wait until the November election to decide which race she might enter.
