(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A state appeals court has upheld the murder conviction and lifetime prison sentence of a man accused of murdering his girlfriend outside a Tulsa bar.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals ruled yesterday that the conviction and sentence given Robert Kevin Clark should stand. Clark was convicted of running over Chrystal Hill with his pickup in May 1998. She died while undergoing surgery.

Clark testified at his trial that he didn't mean to run over Hill. He said he just wanted to frightened her. He said he panicked and left the scene.
