(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Hot summer weather and sunshine may cause air pollution problems for central Oklahoma this summer.

The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments says the region's air quality standing could be in trouble with the Environmental Protection Agency.

The association says violating the E-P-A's clean air standards can cause health concerns and hamper economic development in the area.

It's been estimated that one year of violations cost the area more than $43 million.

The group says to help out residents can gas up cars at night, avoid mowing lawns, car pool, run errands on one trip and limit use of charcoal lighter fluid when grilling outdoors.
