OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahomans are paying less for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline than motorists anywhere in the country, AAA Oklahoma reported Tuesday.
The statewide average is $1.314 per gallon, 14 cents below March's record high, said Patrick Doherty, president and CEO of AAA Oklahoma.
Gasoline prices are even lower in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Citywide averages are about $1.22 in those areas, with some stations selling self-serve regular unleaded for up to 7 cents below that level.
Self-serve regular unleaded now averages $1.489 per gallon nationwide, down 5.4 cents from the record high of $1.543 in March, AAA said. The decrease is attributed to the announced increase in oil production by OPEC nations and a drop in crude oil prices.
