(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Thousands of teachers, parents and students are at the Myriad Convention Center in Oklahoma City today, learning how to make the state's schools safer.
The Summit on Safe Schools kicked off this morning with speeches and panels featuring some of the nation's top experts on education and children psychology.
The summit is being pushed by Governor Keating who says parents need to pay more attention to their kids and support their children's teachers.
As part of the program, the American Psychological Association launched a new program mean to open lines of communication between parents and children. It's called "Warning Signs for Parents," and is meant to show parents how to take more interest in their children without intruding.
Bill Cosby is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at the summit tonight.
