KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities tentatively identified the remains of a body found near Kingfisher as those of a 14-year-old girl missing since July 5. Kym Koch, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said Friday authorities relied on the identification of clothing to name Bobbie Lynn Wofford, 14, as the homicide victim. DNA tests are needed for the positive identification.

Ms. Koch said it appears the girl died of a gunshot wound. Hunters found clothing and other identification material Thursday morning and alerted the Kingfisher County Sheriff's Department, which found the body.

The remains were near a creek and a cemetery northwest of the intersections of U.S. 81 and Oklahoma 33. Miss Wofford, 14, was last seen alive at a convenience store in Kingfisher on July 5, Ms. Koch said.

Susan Wofford told authorities she last saw her daughter on July 2 when the girl left for a weekend trip to Lake Canton.
