An Oklahoma civilian worker is back on the homefront from Iraq this evening. The Tulsa Blue Star Moms gave Gloria Vickers a warm "welcome home" this morning waving flags and signs of support.
Vickers worked in Iraq for about five months as a morale/recreation coordinator in an internet cafe. She helped troops keep in contact with their loved ones.
Vickers says it's nice to be home, but like many of the Blue Star Moms, half of her heart is still in Iraq.
Gloria Vickers/Civilian Worker: “It's an honor for me to work with the heros, side by side with them. They are heros. You ought to be proud of them. They make me proud."
Gloria doesn't have any relatives in Iraq, but she felt like she had to go. She'll return to Iraq in about a week and may volunteer to stay for another year.
