Tulsa County commissioners are searching for ways to get the jail out of debt and might have found the answer Friday morning.

Commissioners are considering letting the Tulsa County Sheriff's office run the jail. The jail is half way into a ten-year contract with the current administrator, Corrections Corporation of America, but can get out of the contract. The sheriff's office made a proposal Friday that it says could save the county more than $2-million a year. Commissioners were interested.

Commissioners will take bids pending approval of the county budget. Leaders are optimistic plans for a new jail administrator will go through.
