VINTON, La. (AP) _ Funk is the favorite for Saturday night's $1 million Delta Jackpot, which drew a full field of 10 for the race at Delta Downs.

Runner-up to Defer in the Laurel Futurity at Pimlico two weeks ago, Funk was installed as the 2-1 favorite for the second richest race for 2-year-olds in North America.

Funk, based in New York and trained by Todd Pletcher, has won allowance races at Saratoga and the Meadowlands. The son of Unbridled's Song will leave from the No. 5 post and be ridden by Eddie Martin Jr.

Texcess, the 3-1 second choice, is coming off two straight wins _ the California Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita and an allowance race at Hollywood Park.

Trained by Paul Aguirre, Texcess drew the No. 6 post with Victor Espinoza aboard.

At 9-2 was Leaving On My Mind, who has raced exclusively in Texas and already has 12 starts, with five wins, two seconds and a third, including a five-length win at Delta Downs in the Jean Lafitte on Nov. 6.

Leaving On My Mind, trained by Danny Pish, drew the No. 2 post and will be ridden by regular jockey Roman Chapa, who won last year's Delta Jackpot aboard Mr. Jester.

The rest of the field includes Major League, United, My Parade, Cherokee Path, Anthony J., Closing Argument and Accurate.

The 1 1-16th-mile race will be a Grade 3 event next year.
