TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ An Oklahoma district judge has approved the settlement of a lawsuit by millions of plaintiffs against Jiffy Lube International.
The lawsuit was filed over environmental fees charged by Houston-based Jiffy Lube at company-owned stores.
Yesterday's settlement calls for Jiffy Lube to provide more than seven million customers of company-owned stores with a coupon good for five-dollars off an oil change.
The company also agrees not to charge the fees anymore and will tell owners of its franchises to notify customers in advance of the surcharge.
Customers of franchise-owned stores don't get coupons. Not all the stores owned by franchise holders charged the fees.
The agreement settles at least nine similar lawsuits from California to New Jersey and a similar agreement has been reached in New York over the fees.
