PRATT, Kan. (AP) _ An Oklahoma woman and a college basketball player are dead following a head-on crash in Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Nicole Quinby of Buffalo and Robert Townsend of Topeka, Kansas, died in the crash just after noon yesterday.

Troopers say Townsend was eastbound on U-S 54 when he sideswiped a car while trying to pass, then crashed head-on into the pickup truck driven by Quinby.

Townsend was a Seward County Community College basketball player and was going home for Thanksgiving.
