SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ Federal investigators are at the scene of a deadly plane crash at Springfield, Missouri.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine Cessna was flying from Oklahoma to Springfield-Branson Regional Airport when it crashed Tuesday night.
Two people were killed and a third is hospitalized in critical condition. Their names and where the flight originated haven't been released.
FAA investigators are surveying the wreckage and National Transportation Safety Board investigators are en route.
Airport director Gary Cyr says the plane was trying to land when it apparently hit some trees and crashed in a field about a half-mile short of the airport.
Cyr says there was no indication anyone on the plane radioed the tower for help or to report a problem.
