OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson says the state has to be strong in prosecuting domestic abusers.
Edmondson and others spoke Wednesday at the 2004 Domestic and Sexual Violence Conference in Oklahoma City.
Among the other speakers was Denise Brown, the sister of former NFL star OJ Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole. Simpson was acquitted of Nicole Brown Simpson's 1994 murder.
Denise Brown shared a statistic with the audience -- four women are murdered every day at the hands of someone they love and trust.
Advocates at the conference said they're often frustrated by lax law enforcement and judges.
Edmondson says the state has no money to expand services for victims but he's hoping conferences will encourage victims, advocates and prosecutors to work together.
