NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma wrestler Sam Hazewinkel is being recognized for his prowess in the classroom.
The national runner-up at 125 pounds, Hazewinkel has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The senior from Pensacola, Florida, finished his Oklahoma career with a 3.52 grade-point average and was one of 18 student-athletes from different sports honored on the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team.
Hazewinkel's overtime loss to Nebraska's Paul Donahoe in the NCAA championship was the only blemish on his 24-1 record this season.
He's now trying to secure a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
