OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The search for a president for Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant now will continue into the upcoming school year. Ann Holloway of Ardmore, a regent for the Regional University System of Oklahoma, says the governing body has extended the deadline for applicants to August 31st.
The search took a strange turn on April 14th, when regents held a special meeting to consider hiring one of two previous finalists for the job -- Thomas Krepel, the assistant to the president at Northern Illinois University or Robert Vartabedian, the vice president for academic affairs at Eastern New Mexico University.
But at that meeting, regents were unable to reach a consensus and reopened their search.
The Southeastern job opened in January, when former President Glen Johnson left the post after 9-and-a-half years to become the state chancellor for higher education.
Jesse Snowden, Southeastern's vice president for academic affairs, is serving as the university's interim president.
