TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A 1,400 acre Claremore ranch that former President George Bush and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher visited has been sold at an auction. The Lawson River Ranch was broken into seven pieces about 200 acres each, and sold for nearly $5 million.
A spokesman for the auction says all seven buyers intend to maintain their parcels as working ranches, with cattle, horses and hunting land. Some are considering a future in residential development.
A residence, a caretaker's farmhouse and a log cabin are the only three structures on the site along the Verdigris River.
It was formerly owned by the Lawson family of Lawson Petroleum Company.
