MARIETTA, Okla. (AP) _ A small plane crashed while trying to land on a closed Love County, Oklahoma, airstrip, injuring three of the four people on board. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the accident happened Sunday night near the McGehee Catfish Restaurant.
Troopers say 60-year-old Dennis N. Wilson of Plano, Texas, was piloting the Cessna when he attempted to land on a runway that had been recently plowed. The soil was loose and soft.
The nose gear dug into the soil, causing the aircraft to flip. It came to rest on its top.
Troopers say Wilson told them he didn't see markers on the runway indicating it was closed.
Wilson wasn't injured, but three of his passengers were taken treated and released at a Marietta, Oklahoma, hospital.
They're identified as Peggy J. Wilson of Plano, Prescott N. Wilson of Temecula, California, and Tammy C. Shilds of Richard, Washington.
