UNDATED (AP) Cornerback Walt Harris was named to the Pro Bowl this winter for the first time in his eleven-year career. The San Francisco 49ers have rewarded Harris by giving him a two-year extension through the 2009 season.
Harris led the N-F-L with eight interceptions but is expected to compete with Shawntae Spencer for a starting job this year.
In other N-F-L news:
-- The Buffalo Bills have re-signed free agent running back Anthony Thomas, who could get more carries following Willis McGahee's (muh-GAY'-heez) trade to the Baltimore Ravens. Thomas ran for 378 yards last season while appearing in all 16 games.
-- The Detroit Lions have worked out a two-year contract with free agent receiver Shaun McDonald. In four seasons with St. Louis he had 106 receptions for just over 12-hundred yards and four touchdowns.
-- The Miami Dolphins have signed veteran fullback Cory Schlesinger to a two-year contract, agent Joe Linta told The Palm Beach Post. Schlesinger played 12 seasons with the Lions, but saw less playing time last season and became a free agent two weeks ago.
-- Tennessee has inked free agent linebacker Ryan Fowler, which gives the Dallas Cowboys seven days to match the deal. Fowler had signed an offer sheet with Philadelphia yesterday, but the Titans topped that deal.
-- And the New York Jets have re-signed offensive tackle Wade Smith, who played in nine games for the team last season.
