MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ Kevin Sims hit two free throws with 12.8 seconds left to lift Tulane to a 58-56 victory over Tulsa in the Conference USA tournament quarterfinals.
Sims' free throws gave the Green Wave a 58-53 lead before Charles Ramsdell hit a 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left to cut it to 58-56 Thursday.
TU had another shot after Tulane's Asim McQueen missed two free throws with 3.4 seconds left, but Ramsdell couldn't get off a shot from midcourt before time expired.
Sims finished with 15 points and David Gomez added 11 points for the Green Wave (17-12), who will play top-seeded Memphis next.
Jamel McLean led Tulsa (20-11) with 11 rebounds and 13 points, including 10 in a second-half rally by the Golden Hurricane. Ramsdell scored 11 points.
Tulane led 31-23 at halftime after holding TU to 28 percent shooting in the first half and forcing 13 turnovers that led to 17 Green Wave points.
But Tulane was hindered from extending the lead further by 10 turnovers of its own.
