DUMAS, Ark. (AP) At least one tornado, possibly two, wreaked havoc Saturday in parts of southern Arkansas, injuring dozens of people and destroying homes and businesses.
Twister damage has been reported in a five-mile-long, half-mile-wide swath to the south and east of the small city of Dumas, 90 miles southeast of Little Rock.
A second storm hit about an hour later. It may also have been a tornado. Experts are on the scene to examine debris patterns to determine if both storms were twisters.
The Desha County sheriff says there has been "extensive looting" after the storms and has imposed a curfew. The National Guard is being sent to the area.
Police say some residents are unaccounted for and officers are making a door-to-door search. A power substation has been destroyed and electricity is out in the area.
