The leftover sand from the recent ice storms may have played a factor in several Tulsa traffic accidents.
Three cars were involved in separate accidents on Sheridan near 27th Street. It started when one driver ran out of gas and her car stalled in the outside lane. Two cars tried to avoid hitting that one. A truck wasn't able to, possibly because of the sand on the road, and hit a utility pole. A few minutes later another driver hit the stalled car.
And while Tulsa Police were setting up cones at that scene, another driver was trying to avoid them when she lost control, again possibly on the sand and hit a street sign. No one was hurt in any of those accidents.
Overnight, another Tulsa driver lost control on a sandy spot on the curve at 38th and Riverside. He hit a tree. No one was hurt in that accident, either.
