One Tulsa Man has taken the holiday spirit to a whole new level. Heâ€™s transformed his home into a high-tech Christmas display.

Inspired by a home he saw last year in Ohio, Josh McCormick spent most of this year creating his own high-tech Christmas light show. News on 6 reporter Chris Wright says the display is turning heads near 41st and Harvard.

Each night at 5 p.m., the lights go on and the music starts. Seven thousand of them flicker on and off in tune with eight different Christmas songs. Josh McCormick has worked meticulously on the lights since May.

"I was just looking for a technical challenge, something to do, something that involved Christmas. What I didn't expect is the number of hours this would take."

All told, Josh estimates that the project took up 400 hours of his spare time. Most of that was spent syncing up the computer-controlled lights with the music. Then he hooked up the low-power FM transmitter so passersby can listen to his show by turning their dial to 911. Perhaps the most impressive part of his display is that it does not use much electricity.

"The main focus of the display is an extremely low power consumption, it's a very bright Christmas display that uses almost no power," said McCormick.

McCormick says that is because he uses lights with low power LED bulbs. Each light is only on for a fraction of a second at a time, so they use much less power than traditional Christmas displays. The seven thousand lights are plugged into a single outlet, and Josh expects his electric bill to be only $12 for the month of December.

But if you're interested in seeing the high-tech display, you better stop by this Christmas because it won't be back next year.

"I wish I could do this every year, but it's just too much, unless you really, really love Christmas," said McCormick.

Josh has set up a website for people interested in setting up displays like his, www.buzzier.com. Josh says he has heard from a lot of people in the Tulsa area, so expect to see more of these displays next year.
