KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs say running back
Priest Holmes will not return to the team this season. Today was the last day the Chiefs could have activated Holmes, who's been sidelined since suffering head and neck injuries on a hit by Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman in an October 2005 game at San Diego.

Chiefs president Carl Peterson says medical tests on Holmes have been encouraging and the three-time Pro Bowler hopes to return for the 2007 season.
