LANDOVER, Md. (AP) The Washington Redskins have won one of the more dramatic games of the season.
Facing a 47-yard field goal attempt with no time remaining, Nick Novak booted the game winner just seconds yesterday after Mike Vanderjagt of the Cowboys had a short field goal try blocked and recovered by the Redskins.
That block was picked up by Sean Taylor who advanced it through a maze of Cowboys into Dallas territory. Kyle Kosier of the Cowboys was called for a facemask penalty on the return and the ball was placed in range for Novak.
The game winning boot was redemption for Novak, as he had missed a 49-yard boot with 31 seconds left.
The thrilling win snapped a three-game Washington losing streak and came against their arch rivals. The Redskins are now 3-5 while the Cowboys fall to 4-4.
